Design

This year’s Galaxy Ultra features a boxier look, as opposed to the smooth, rounded corners of its predecessors. That’s a bit of a mixed blessing. The frame is built of what Samsung calls Armor Aluminum, a proprietary alloy that is stronger than regular aluminum. Meanwhile, Corning supplied both the front and rear panels, which are made of their newest Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Naturally, the phone is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance, though unlike iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, Samsung does not go above and beyond the standard’s 1.5m depth for 30 minutes necessary (rated at 6m submersion for 30 mins). The S23 Ultra has gained a few grams in weight and now weighs 234g, up from 228g in the previous model.
