Design:
The core appeal of the GO Ultra is that it puts serious image quality into an incredibly tiny, wearable form. At just 53 grams, it houses a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, a massive 221% larger than the GO 3S and the same size found in the flagship Ace Pro 2. Paired with a 5nm AI chip, this delivers rich, natural colour, impressively low noise, and image quality reviewers have described as comparable to the much larger Ace Pro 2. The GO Ultra shoots 4K video at up to 60fps, double the frame rate of its predecessor, along with 4K30fps Active HDR for vivid, detailed footage and up to 50MP still photos.
Hands-Free, Mount-Anywhere POV
The GO Ultra is designed for effortless, hands-free capture. A built-in magnetic base lets it snap onto metal surfaces or connect to Insta360’s wide range of mounting accessories, including the Magnet Pendant worn under a shirt for a true first-person eye-line and the Magnetic Easy Clip. This means you can film immersive POV footage while keeping your hands completely free, ideal for vlogging, sports, travel, and capturing life as you live it. Note that the GO Ultra uses a new mounting system, so accessories from the older GO 3 and GO 3S will not fit.
The Action Pod: Control, Framing, and Extended Battery
The GO Ultra pairs with a redesigned Action Pod that dramatically expands its usefulness. The camera streams over Bluetooth to the pod, which features a 2.5-inch flip touchscreen for remote framing, playback, and control from a distance. Docking the camera in the pod also extends the battery significantly. The Action Pod activates some advanced features, making it the command centre for the tiny camera.
Excellent Low Light and Smart Features
The GO Ultra is the first Insta360 camera with an ambient light sensor that reduces flickering and calibrates colours in real time for more authentic footage. A dedicated 2.7K PureVideo mode uses the AI chip to dramatically improve low-light performance, making early mornings, shaded forests, and evening scenes usable. FlowState stabilization with 360° Horizon Lock keeps footage buttery smooth and level no matter how much the camera moves, and one-tap AI auto-editing finds your highlights and cuts them into a shareable video with transitions and music. FreeFrame Mode lets you shoot once and reframe to any aspect ratio for different social platforms.
Long Battery Life and Fast Charging
Battery life, a weak point of previous GO cameras, is much improved. The standalone camera records for around 60–70 minutes in 4K and up to 200 minutes when docked in the Action Pod, nearly double the runtime of the GO 3S. Fast charging is excellent: the standalone camera goes from zero to 80% in about 12 minutes. Unlike the fixed storage of the GO 3S, the GO Ultra uses removable microSD cards up to 2TB, giving flexible, expandable storage for lots of high-resolution footage.
Rugged and Waterproof
The GO Ultra camera is rated IPX8 waterproof to 10 metres (33 feet) straight out of the box, so you can dive, paddle, or hike in the rain without a case. Important to note: the Action Pod is only IPX4 splash-resistant, so in wet conditions you should use the camera standalone rather than docked. For deep-water adventures, an optional Dive Case extends protection down to 60 metres. The rugged, lightweight build handles rain, dust, and bumps with ease.
